Last night was the OMS 6th grade Winter Concert. I am so proud of all the students who performed!
The two concert bands did a great job. It was very clear how hard they worked, and that they were paying attention to their notes, rhythms, dynamics and articulations.
The choruses both sang beautifully, (with my favorite song being Don Gato- It gets me every time!!)
I am extremely proud of the 6th grade Jazz Band. This is the first time that these students have performed where there are only one or two people playing the same part as they are. They also didn't have 65 other instrumentalists on stage with them, as the ensemble has only about 25 students! The first concert can be scary, but the Jazz Band did a fantastic job! A special congratulations goes out to all the students who improvised solos. By using the notes in their Bb blues scale, they thought up their own melodies off the top of their head!
