Dawe School Band, Best in the land
Playing in a band is the most fun you can have while playing an instrument! This is a moto that we in the Stoughton Music Department believe! Fifth grade band allows students the opportunity to learn about analyzing, musicality, listening, working in small and large groups, and being part of a team. This year will be a lot of fun and I look forward to making great music!
Students will have a group lesson once a week (Fridays) with other students on their instrument, but meeting once a week is not enough to build up muscular endurance and musical reading skills! This is why we must practice at home. We can even practice with friends or other musicians!
Practice is important to your musical growth. Beginners should practice a minimum of 4 days per week, 15 minutes per day (5th graders: 20 minutes a day - 4 days a week). Find a quiet place with a music stand, if possible. With everyone's busy schedule, a regular weekly practice schedule greatly improves your chance for success.

Concerts:
Our Spring Concert will be May 26th. The daytime concert is for Dawe School students, and the evening concert is for friends and family!
This week's homework
Please practice all of your band music. Start from the beginning and try to play the songs from beginning to end. Note where you made mistakes, and go back and review those notes and fingerings before trying to play the song from beginning to end again.
Also, please focus on warm up #5, as it covers an octave range on your instrument. Watch out for your 7th note!
